How a Railway Strike Led to the Hunger Winter

Dieser Artikel ist auf Deutsch nicht verfügbar. Angezeigt wird Englisch.

On September 17, 1944, approximately 30,000 employees of Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways) stopped working. They went into hiding in secret. This strike caused many problems.

As a result of this plan, trains could barely run anymore. As a result, fewer goods and less food reached various parts of the Netherlands. This marked the beginning of a difficult period that later became known as the Hunger Winter.
