British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is criticized within his party due to his handling of revelations concerning Peter Mandelson, who passed sensitive information to Jeffrey Epstein and, according to Starmer, betrayed the country. At the same time, political and business elites in Europe are being investigated because of their connections to Epstein, after the U.S. justice department made millions of emails and photos public. The European Central Bank has kept the main interest rate in the eurozone unchanged at 2 percent for the fifth consecutive time.

ECB President Christine Lagarde wants to strengthen the international role of the euro by facilitating the lending of euros to other central banks and calls on EU leaders to take more action for the capital markets union, digital euro, and internal market. A 21-year-old man from Tolbert received a community service sentence of 200 hours for multiple violent offenses, including a fight during a garden party in Leek. Four men received community service sentences between 100 and 120 hours because they made sexual appointments with police decoy profiles of underage boys.

Additionally, a 24-year-old man from The Hague was arrested for online sharing of the phone number of Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese, who has since been threatened; the man is now free but must appear in court. During a traffic check on the Maasboulevard in Rotterdam, 175 fines were issued to 148 vehicle drivers, including four arrests for driving under the influence and two for drug possession. Since 2021, the municipality of Westerkwartier has been discussing the construction of a bypass to reduce traffic nuisance in Leek and Tolbert.

According to the ANWB (Royal Dutch Touring Club), the rates for charging electric cars vary significantly between municipalities, with municipalities having a lot of influence on these prices. Dutch farmers are paying the highest price for manure disposal in twenty years for the first time, while some farmers see advantages due to the winter weather. Finally, the revenue from municipal taxes, including property tax, increased this year by an average of 6.5 percent; Utrecht expects the highest increase.
