Fires, troops, mill accident, and stabbing incident (Sunday, May 3)

The fire department said on Saturday that the wildfire near 't Harde is under control. The fire started on Wednesday during a military exercise on the 500-hectare defense terrain. The fire department was busy, and aid from Belgium, Germany, and France is now stopping.

The Pentagon says that the United States will remove 5000 soldiers from Germany. This is expected to happen in the next six to twelve months. There are 39,000 American soldiers in Germany, including at Ramstein. After criticism from Merz, Pistorius says that Europe needs to do more.

In Hei- en Boeicop, a young child was seriously injured on Saturday by a windmill blade. Mayor Fröhlich says that the child was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. An investigation is underway, and local news reports that children were playing near the windmill.

The police arrested eight suspects on Friday evening following a stabbing incident in Winschoten. Three were injured and had stab or cut wounds in Lekstraat. They are men from Winschoten, Leeuwarden, Oude Pekela, and a minor boy. After reports of shots, the police found no evidence of that.
