On Saturday, over 2500 dancers paraded through Rotterdam for the 42nd Summer Carnival. Thousands of visitors lined the route. The festival proceeded calmly; in Amsterdam, Queen Máxima opened WorldPride for 1 million visitors.

Richard Carapaz won the tough penultimate Tour de France stage on Saturday and kept the polka dot jersey. Mads Pedersen retained the green jersey, and Tadej Pogacar is almost certain to win his fifth Tour. Lorena Wiebes won her second stage in the Tour of Poland.

NU.nl showed a video of stunts by Hoogland and Knetemann on a ramp in Groningen. Around 10:30 p.m., people in parts of the Netherlands also saw a fireball. Reports came from Groningen, Sappemeer, Oldenzijl, and Kolhol.

ProRail briefly stopped trains on Friday between Meppel and Hoogeveen for three cats. Train driver Jos van der Veen saw a mother cat and two kittens near the tracks. Track workers and the animal ambulance captured the animals for a microchip check.

Near Vianen, about 2000 square meters of field burned down at Hapseweg. According to the police, children caused the fire while playing and received a warning. The final stage of the Tour is shorter on Sunday because police are being sent to wildfires elsewhere.
