On Saturday, an accident in Oud-Beijerland stood out. A 15-year-old boy grabbed the steering wheel when the 22-year-old driver became ill. The van crashed into a trailer, and the driver was taken to the hospital.

In German federal states, trucks are temporarily allowed to drive on Sundays as well. This is due to low water levels in the Rhine, causing ships to carry less cargo. North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony participate until August 31, and the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management warns drivers about the Merwede Bridge.

The drought is causing water problems in more places. Delfland and Greenhouse Horticulture Netherlands are looking for extra water for horticulturists. They are discussing three solutions, and one idea is to collect fresh water with tanker trucks.

PSV started the new Eredivisie season with a 2-2 draw against Fortuna Sittard in Eindhoven. Ryan Flamingo and Noah Fernandez scored, and Édouard Michut equalized late. The women reached the final qualifying round of the Champions League with a 3-1 win against HJK Helsinki.

WorldPride in Amsterdam ended on Saturday with the Pride March. Thousands of people participated from 4:30 PM at the Martin Luther King Park. Afterwards, the parade went through the city to Museumplein.
