The Amsterdam City Swim raised over 3 million euros for research into ALS. Last year, that was 1.7 million euros. 3,300 people participated in the two-kilometer swim, including twelve people with ALS.

In football, FC Twente Women won 5-1 against sc Heerenveen. Jill Roord scored three goals. In the men's matches, AZ won 3-2 against sc Heerenveen, Fortuna Sittard won 3-2 against ADO Den Haag, and FC Groningen played 2-2 against FC Twente.

After floods in Nepal and Tibet, 1,384 deaths have now been reported. In Nepal, 1,341 deaths have been reported, and in Tibet at least 43. Media say that melting glaciers and thawing ground increase the risk.

King Willem-Alexander, Princess Beatrix, and Prince Constantijn were in Hitzacker on Sunday. There, they commemorated Prince Claus on his 100th birthday. The family visited a monument, walked along the Prinz-Claus-Promenade, and Willem-Alexander watered the king's lime tree.
