We're excited to introduce Daily Dutch Lessons — a new feature that turns each day's news into a focused 5-minute practice session.
What Are Daily Lessons?
Every day, we pick a paragraph from the Dutch news and build a complete lesson around it. You'll practice vocabulary, grammar, listening, and translation — all
based on real, current events.
Each lesson includes 7 exercise types:
- Listen & Read — Hear the paragraph read aloud while following along
- Key Vocabulary — Learn the most important words with flip cards
- Fill in the Blank — Test your understanding with cloze exercises
- De or Het? — Practice Dutch articles (one of the trickiest parts!)
- Word Order — Arrange words to build correct Dutch sentences
- Listening Quiz — Listen and pick the right translation
- Translate — Choose the correct Dutch translation
Three Difficulty Levels
Choose the level that fits you best:
- Beginner (A1-A2) — Simplified vocabulary and shorter sentences
- Intermediate (A2-B1) — Standard news language with common expressions
- Advanced (B1-B2) — Full news paragraphs with complex grammar
You can try all three levels for the same day — your progress is tracked independently for each one.
How to Use Daily Lessons
- Go to Daily Lesson from the Learning menu
- Pick your reading level
- Tap Start Lesson on today's topic
- Work through the exercises at your own pace
- Review your results and save words you want to practice more
Browse Past Lessons
Missed a day? No problem. The lesson page shows a full history of past lessons. Tap any date to start that lesson — you're not limited to today.
Track Your Progress
After each lesson you'll see:
- Your score (0–1000)
- A star rating based on accuracy
- Word mastery — how well you learned each vocabulary item
- A list of words to review that you can save to your flashcards
Your stats (total completed, average score, streak) are shown at the top of the lesson page to keep you motivated.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Lessons
- Be consistent — Even 5 minutes a day builds real progress
- Try different levels — Start with Beginner, then challenge yourself with Intermediate
- Save struggling words — The "Words to Review" section lets you add tricky vocabulary to your flashcard deck
- Listen carefully — The listening exercises help train your ear for natural Dutch
Daily Lessons are available for all Pro users. Give it a try and let us know what you think — this feature is in Beta and we'd love your feedback!
