3 Ways to Translate

Install ClickDutch and enable it on any Dutch website. Then pick the way that suits you:

1. Select text — Double-click a word or drag to select a phrase. A translation popup appears instantly.
2. Right-click — Select text, right-click, and choose "Translate with ClickDutch" from the context menu.
3. Type in the popup — Click the extension icon, type any Dutch word in the search box, and get a translation without visiting any page.

Translations appear right where you need them — no switching tabs, no copy-pasting into Google Translate.

Save Words and Build Your Vocabulary

See a word you want to remember? Hit Save in the translation popup. The word goes straight into your EasyDutchNews vocabulary list, along with the sentence where you found it for context.

Your saved words sync with your EasyDutchNews account.
Open the website to see the full details — word type, article (de/het), conjugation forms, and example sentences.

Highlighted Words on Every Page

Once you save words, ClickDutch highlights them on every Dutch page you visit. You'll spot your vocabulary everywhere — in news articles, Wikipedia pages, and forums.

Choose between two highlight styles:

• Background — a subtle colored background behind the word
• Underline — a colored underline beneath the word

The colors show your mastery level: blue for new words, purple for words you're learning, and green for words you've mastered. Click any highlighted word to see its translation again.

Practice with Flashcards

Your saved vocabulary automatically becomes flashcards with spaced repetition. The extension popup shows how many cards are due for review — click to open the flashcard page and start practicing.

5 Smart Features

ClickDutch is designed to stay out of your way:

1. Language detection — Only activates on Dutch pages. It won't pop up on English or German websites.
2. Site permissions — You choose which sites to enable it on. It never activates on banking, email, or government websites.
3. Compound words — Dutch loves compounds like gouverneur-generaal and Noord-Holland. ClickDutch recognizes them as single words.
4. Punctuation handling — Selecting "Doodsgevaar" with a trailing quote mark? ClickDutch strips the punctuation so the lookup works.
5. 7 translation languages — Translate Dutch into English, Persian, French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Turkish.
