Always ask what each amount is for. School fees, transport, certain materials, or a specific course may involve costs. Regular school books for secondary education are usually provided by the school.

Welke kosten heeft onderwijs?
Onderwijs brengt soms kosten mee, maar niet iedere rekening van een school is verplicht. Voor basis- en voortgezet onderwijs gelden andere regels dan voor een vervolgopleiding. Vraag daarom per bedrag waarvoor het bedoeld is. Schoolgeld, reizen, bepaalde materialen of een opleiding kunnen geld kosten. De gewone schoolboeken in het voortgezet onderwijs worden doorgaans door de school beschikbaar gesteld.
Een school kan een vrijwillige ouderbijdrage vragen voor extra activiteiten. Vrijwillig betekent echt dat ouders niet hoeven te betalen. Een kind mag niet worden uitgesloten van een schoolreis of andere extra activiteit omdat ouders de bijdrage niet betalen. Je hoeft daar geen reden voor te geven. Controleer of een brief duidelijk onderscheid maakt tussen deze bijdrage en kosten die volgens andere regels wel voor jou kunnen zijn.
