Little Devil Elm Returns to Utrecht: Descendants of 184-Year-Old Tree Planted

Utrecht will soon receive three new trees. These are young trees of the little devil elm (duiveltjesiep). These trees come from an old tree that was 184 years old.

This old tree stood in the Zocherplantsoen (a public park in Utrecht). Unfortunately, this tree died in 2022 due to a disease. Two new trees will be planted in Amelisweerd (a nature reserve near Utrecht).

The third tree will be planted near the Willemsplantsoen (a park in Utrecht). This is close to the old mother elm (moederiep) that stands behind the Centraal Museum (Central Museum) in Utrecht.
