New Utrecht Campaign Against Cigarette Butt Litter
The municipality of Utrecht is launching a new plan against cigarette litter. Cigarette butts are the most common litter on the streets. About 20 to 30 percent of litter on the streets consists of cigarette butts.
They make the street dirty and are harmful to nature. Butts almost never disappear. The municipality is trying something new in places where there are many butts.
They stick stickers and use paint on the ground. This helps people put out their cigarette and throw the butt in the trash. This way, the street stays cleaner.
