The municipality of Utrecht closes all sports halls, gyms, and swimming pools within the city from Thursday, January 8 at 6 p.m. This is happening because there is a lot of snow and ice on the roofs. Frost and rain can add even more weight to the roofs.

The municipality wants everyone to stay safe, which is why the sports facilities are closed until Monday morning. This decision was made to prevent accidents. Athletes, visitors, and employees cannot currently go to the municipal sports halls, gyms, and swimming pools.
