National government and Utrecht region make agreements on provisional preferred alternative Merwedelijn

The national government, the province of Utrecht, and the municipalities of Nieuwegein and Utrecht have made agreements together. They want to build more houses and improve travel in the Utrecht region. They have also made a decision about the Merwedelijn, a new railway line.

This line will run underground between Utrecht Central and Westraven. This is the provisional plan for the railway line.
