Ten years of Plan Einstein: Utrecht's response to the reception of asylum seekers

In 2016, Utrecht created Plan Einstein. This plan was a response to the discussion about reception places for asylum seekers. With Plan Einstein, Utrecht wanted to bring asylum seekers and neighborhood residents together.

This way, newcomers learn the language faster and feel at home sooner. It also helps people to participate in the neighborhood. Now, ten years later, Plan Einstein is a success.

Utrecht worked together with local partners and the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA). The network of newcomers and neighborhood residents is still growing. Other European cities are now also looking at this idea.
