Utrecht Monitor 2026: Utrecht grows and changes, nuisance increases

Utrecht is a city that is growing and changing. Many people in Utrecht, namely 78%, are proud of their city. Also, 84% of people say they can participate in the city.

That can be done by seeing friends, playing sports, working, volunteering, or studying. However, there are also problems. More people are bothered by litter and waste on the streets.

In 2015, 32% of people thought there was a lot of litter, but in 2025 this has risen to 44%. This is stated in the Utrecht Monitor, a report from the municipality of Utrecht. It contains figures and facts about how the city is doing.

The monitor looks at housing, school, health, social life, environment, traffic, economy, safety, and differences among people in the city. This allows us to clearly see what life is like in Utrecht.
