Expansion of Low Emission Zone for Passenger Cars and Buses Cannot Proceed as Planned

The municipality of Utrecht wants to make the low emission zone larger. This is an area where dirty cars, such as diesel cars and buses, are not allowed to drive. Utrecht has now found a problem with the regulations.

According to national regulations, Utrecht is not allowed to start the new low emission zone from January 1, 2027. That is why the plan cannot proceed as originally intended.
