News about A12, DigiD, elections, and accident (Sunday, April 26)

On Saturday, the police detained over 400 people at XR on the A12. At De Meern, 200 protesters stopped earlier, and around 3:15 PM the road was clear. The protesters left later without penalty, but six occupants of three cars are still detained and their vehicles have been seized.

At the beginning of next month, the cabinet will extend the contract with DigiD company Solvinity. State Secretary Van der Burg writes that switching quickly is not possible. There are concerns in the House of Representatives because the American company Kyndryl may take over Solvinity. Starting from 2028, there will be a new tender for other companies.

The polling stations in the Palestinian territories have closed after local elections. In the West Bank and in Deir al-Balah in Gaza, people elected local officials. In Deir al-Balah, residents were able to vote for the first time in twenty years. Hamas did not participate in either area.

On the N35 between Wierden and Nijverdal, five people were injured in a collision. A fire truck flipped over and ended up beside the road. Four people from the fire truck and the taxi driver went to the hospital. The fire truck was on its way to a report of a heath fire.
