DigiD demonstrates your identity online when you are in contact with many Dutch organisations. For some applications, medical records, or claims, you need to use DigiD. Sometimes, you log in using the DigiD app or an extra check via SMS. The steps required depend on the particular service you are accessing.
Use only the official website or app. Always type the web address yourself or follow a link you have checked. Any unexpected message asking for your password or code might be an attempt at fraud. Keep your username, password, and codes private, even if someone offers to fill in a form for you.
If you do not yet have a DigiD, visit the official website to see how to apply for one. If reading or using the technology is difficult, ask for help at a library or from the relevant organisation. A helper can sit next to you and explain what to do, but they do not need to know your details. For some applications you may also need to have your proof of identity or citizen service number (burgerservicenummer) ready. Check the official website in advance to see what you actually need.
For a healthcare application, read which details are required and note any deadlines. Keep the confirmation and decision safe, even if everything takes place digitally. If you suspect someone has seen your login details, change them via the official route and report any suspected fraud to DigiD.

DigiD voor zorgzaken
DigiD laat online zien wie je bent wanneer je contact hebt met veel Nederlandse organisaties. Voor sommige aanvragen, zorggegevens of declaraties heb je DigiD nodig. Soms log je in met de DigiD-app of met een extra controle via sms. Welke stap nodig is, hangt af van de dienst die je gebruikt.
Gebruik de officiële website of app. Typ het adres zelf of volg een link die je hebt gecontroleerd. Een onverwacht bericht dat om je wachtwoord of code vraagt, kan fraude zijn. Houd je gebruikersnaam, wachtwoord en codes privé, ook als iemand aanbiedt een formulier voor je in te vullen.
Heb je nog geen DigiD, kijk dan op de officiële website hoe je die aanvraagt. Vraag hulp bij een bibliotheek of bij de betrokken organisatie als lezen of de techniek moeilijk is. Een helper kan naast je zitten en uitleggen wat je moet doen, maar hoeft jouw gegevens niet te kennen. Bij sommige aanvragen moet je ook je identiteitsbewijs of burgerservicenummer bij de hand hebben. Kijk vooraf op de officiële website wat je echt nodig hebt.
Lees bij een zorgaanvraag welke gegevens worden gevraagd en welke termijn geldt. Bewaar de bevestiging en het besluit, ook als alles digitaal gaat. Denk je dat iemand je inloggegevens heeft gezien, verander ze dan via de officiële route en meld mogelijke fraude bij DigiD.
