Industrial output prices nearly 7 percent higher in August

In August 2025, prices for products from Dutch industry were 6.8 percent higher than in August last year. This was reported by Statistics Netherlands (Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek, CBS). In July, prices were 5.1 percent higher than a year earlier.
The price of oil is important for industrial prices. In August, a barrel of North Sea Brent crude oil cost nearly 76 euros. That is 31 percent more than last year.
In July, it was more than 73 euros per barrel, approximately 24 percent higher than last year. The higher oil price is due to problems in the Middle East. Oil industry products were nearly 60 percent more expensive in August than last year.
In July, those prices were 43 percent higher than last year. Prices in the chemical industry also rose, usually somewhat later than oil prices. In August, prices there were 14 percent higher than a year earlier, compared with 12 percent higher in July.
Compared with July, industrial prices rose by 1.1 percent in August. Prices on the foreign market rose by 1.3 percent, while those on the Dutch market rose by 0.8 percent.
