In September 2026, inflation in the Netherlands was 3.4 percent. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) said this. This is a preliminary estimate, as not all the data are available yet.

Inflation was 3.3 percent in August. Statistics Netherlands measures inflation by looking at how much more expensive goods and services have become compared with a year earlier. It uses the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for this purpose.

It also looks at price changes over a single month. In September, prices rose by 0.1 percent compared with August. Prices usually do not change much in September compared with August.

Over the past ten years, prices in September have remained unchanged on average compared with August. Sometimes prices temporarily fall, for example when clothing stores hold sales. This is due to seasonal effects.

Statistics Netherlands already knows how prices changed for several product groups. However, a complete overview will be published on October 13. Statistics Netherlands also looks at inflation according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).

In September, inflation according to the HICP was 3.0 percent, compared with 2.8 percent in August. From 2026 onward, both the CPI and the HICP will have a new base year. The current base year is 2015=100, but it will become 2025=100.
